As per an announcement by Alan Gerry/Granite/Gelish Realty, celebrations at the site would definitely be low-key in 1997. In addition to articles in local and national newspapers, signs were posted around the property advising visitors that No Camping, No Fires and No Driving on the property would be allowed. |

Testing the legality of this ban were Abigail Storm, Daniel Eggink, and members of their family. They are founders of the Woodstock Nation organization, dedicated to achieving free assembly at the Site. Their actions resulted in arrests for trespassing and removal from the site. Their court case is still unresolved pending proof of property ownership and a claim of 'Imminent Domain'. Another person testing the legality of the vehicle ban was the Sullivan County Attorney, Ira Cohen, who was ticketed for 'Blocking an intersection' at the Site. |
